The Union Pacific Railroad introduced the Big Boys locomotives in 1936 on its main line across the state of Wyoming.
The Big Boys locomotives have the 4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement. This was the state of the art train that combined two sets of eight driving wheels with both a four-wheel leading truck for stability. This enabled the Bib Boy trains when it would hit a curve, the four-wheel trailing truck that would support the big boy trains large firebox. I have always been big fan of trains.
